When in Mexico

Coming back from vacation this time, my friends have pointed out that I suffer from pretty intense post-vacation blues. After a week in Mexico, it's been hard for me to get out of the house or even really do anything but lay around and wish I was already somewhere else new. It's a good time for me to put together photo-heavy blog posts like this, reliving memories as I upload and edit, and daydream about my next adventure. Huge thanks to the Grand Solaris resort in Cancún for making sure Mallory and I had an epic time.

Sunrise from our balcony

Hotel coffee, made bearable with cream and sugar

 Poolside palms

My first time anywhere tropical, and it's safe to say I'm hooooooked

 Sunsets, equally magical

Wearing Free People suit (top and bottom)  + Forever 21 kimono!

CAFE FLAMEDO! Mexican flaming coffee is my new addiction, made by Salazar the Great

 Partner-in-crime for the week, Mallory

Started waking up earlier to claim chairs once we realized how the system works...

Mara Hoffman suit via Everything But Water + Forever 21 kimono, Ray-Ban Classic Wayfarers and Reef Girls flips

HOLA MARIACHI BAND (this was the coolest thing ever, I got to try on one of their sombreros)

Half-buttoned shorts and a plain white tee, with a little pizzazz thanks to SBG (boom, a little outfit poem for you) Soludos espadrilles

Insert typical caption here, such as I MISS THE WARM SUN (SERIOUSLY, I DO)

Spot the sunburn. Amuse Society suit and Free People hat.

 View from our last breakfast.

Still can't get over that blue.

Because Mexico is always more. Sincerely Jules tee, Forever 21 kimono, One Teaspoon shorts.

I don't think I'll ever tire of seeing places I've never seen before. There's a moment when I step off of a plane into an unfamiliar airport and begin to find my way around via foreign language signs that I never feel in any other area of my life. Awhile back, somewhere between the first time I climbed a mountain in Colorado or my first cab ride in Manhattan, I realized the poetry of it all. Things happen in new places that would never happen at home. A part of you opens up that was tucked away until you reached this specific destination. I feel like each new city or country that I visit draws out a piece of my heart I've never met before, no matter how small or how big.

I like doing these chronologically-organized photo posts as if I'm taking you all on the trip with me throughout our day-to-day. Not pictured: the daily lunch of chips and a pile of fresh guacamole by the pool, too much goat cheese and fresh fruit for both breakfast and dinner, midnight laughs with my roomie and the many stories I could only ever tell in person. Mexico does something to you, man. I can't wait to go back and see another side of it. Again, many thanks to Carla (you are the best, chica!) and the Grand Solaris team. Make sure to like their Facebook page and book them for your next getaway, kids. You won't be disappointed.
