Morning Routine: Cold Brew
Once you’ve got your morning routine down, it becomes a sacred thing. Although weekends around here tend to be a little more leisurely, there are some things I never skip even on the busiest weekdays. Making my bed, checking the news, and most importantly, drinking my morning coffee.
It’s been easy integrating Cuisinart Cold Brew Coffee Machine into my daily routine. Most people I know would choose cold brew over iced coffee any day (it’s so much smoother and sweeter), and since I take almost all my coffee cold in the summer, this machine has been a lifesaver. I never made cold brew before because of the 24-hour hassle—you need cheesecloth for straining, huge tubs and lots of fridge space…I don’t have time for that, but I do have 25 minutes in the morning to let the cold brew machine do its thing.
Whether I’m making three cups for the day or seven cups for the weekend, the carafe can go right in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. However, make sure you’ve played around with the recipe to perfect the ratio of coffee grounds to water before inviting your friends over for brunch. I made a few test batches and found I prefer mine much stronger than the suggested recipe. The ‘bold’ brew setting also takes a little longer—45 minutes rather than the 25—but using the 25-minute option makes it the fastest cold brew machine on the market, which is not a feature to be underestimated when you’re waiting for that first cup of joe.
If you’re as big of a fan of cold brew as I am, this machine is a must-have in your life. (I seriously miss it when I'm traveling—I'm craving it this morning over in Minneapolis!) Not only is it quick and easy to use, but I even find cold brew has a health benefit—because it’s so sweet, I don’t even need to add sugar and cream. Black is my favorite way to drink it, which also happens to be the best for your body!
