It's no secret that style bloggers are drawn to wall art. We're always looking for color splashed on city walls to complement our outfits and spice up our content. 

What a lot of us don't think about is what goes into the making of a mural—and the meaning behind it. I went to Hawaii last week to find out at POW! WOW!, a mural festival that originated in Honolulu, Hawaii, now with cities and countries across the globe taking part. Beyond using a ton of paint, long hours are spent designing and preparing each piece to go on the wall. Even before that, companies and business owners are contacted for permissions and to sort out details for the commissioned wall. It's a year-long process for a week-long festival, but the beauty and light that wall art brings to a community is absolutely worth it, and embraced for years to come. 

Just before my trip, Hallie took me to this wall in Capitol Hill to shoot the day's look. It's a wall that stops you in your tracks. Wrapped around a full city block, each section features an entirely new concept and idea. Stumbling upon this wall was a great little introduction for what was to come for me—I can't wait to show you guys my week in Honolulu, Hawaii. Seeing vast new murals go up from concept to completion was inspiring in a whole new way.
