For me, walking in these shoes is comparable to walking in 6-inch stilettos, but I make the effort. In fact, I wore them out one night in New York City until something like three in the morning and had to walk through three blocks of the strongest downpour I’ve ever been outside in, and stepped in multiple puddles along the way—basically, I can’t believe these calf-hair babies survived. How do any of us make it after being thrown into situations that don’t make us feel good?
Today feels like my Monday. I’ve been having a hard time lately with work stress manifesting itself in physical ways and yesterday, had no other choice but to create an extra weekend day for myself. I’ve never done this before without feeling weighted with guilt, but I slept. I read. I watched an episode of Gilmore Girls because nothing else makes me feel cozier. I colored, I listened to my new favorite podcast Unlocked! the Nancy Drew podcast (seriously, I’m more of a nerd than even I realized). I tried to take care of myself and dry up the puddles I’ve been drowning in, and it worked at least for today.
