Handbags can say a lot, though I've never heard a purse speak quite as loudly as this special edition satchel from Furla. Between the prints and textures, it only made sense to pair it with a chic and sensible white button-up, easy denim, and my new favorite loafers. Plus, the colors are perfect for transitioning from summer brights to fall jewel tones, which I have to admit I'm already looking forward to...

How has it been seven and half years and I haven't used the title "Basket Case" for a blog post title? It's a wonder, considering it's my daily state of mind, but here we are, and I guess I'll call it a success. I never know what to do with woven red shades—it's always much less saturated than true red but not as pastel as pink, so I usually go one way or the other and pair it with a bold and true red or light, blush pink accessories. Today, I went with my favorite new flats from Franco Sarto with a chic point in a friendly pink and they did the trick nicely.

I've been holding on to this post for a few weeks now, and I can now say I've been living in this dress all season. It's lightweight and breathable but not sheer, and basically made for a pop of color. "Living in this dress" is also something I never thought I would say—I've always been a blue jeans girl, rain or shine, hot or cold. Maybe there's something to getting older, embracing femininity, or feeling confident in oneself that's made room in my wardrobe. Whatever it is, dresses have been a welcome addition in these long, July, dog days of summer. I didn't even have to dress this one down with sneakers...although I still can't leave the house without bike shorts on underneath. No Marilyn Monroe moments for this girl, please.
